From the examples I've handled, the Edge/Axis has got to be the cheapest quality gun I've ever seen--and that includes the 770. The best buy for your money would be 1) Marlin X7 if you're planning on spending about $300; 2) Howa 1500 if you're planning on spending $400; and 3) Tikka T3 if you're planning on spending $500. Savages are a seriously obselete design (assuming you mean the 110 series), are overpriced for the features they offer (well, so are Tikkas), and are just plain ugly--I mean every Savage in productino today.Ugly is a personal subjective opinion.
